EPA puts feet on the ground to tackle ozone issues

July 16-17 two U.S. experts from the Environmental Protection Agency came to Bangkok to breathe ground-level ozone policy and build new connections. Invited by the Thai Department of Pollution Control, Carol Kemker and Kosta Loukeris came from Atlanta and Chicago for the meeting of over 150 like-minded industrial, atmospheric, and air quality scientists.

Carol is the Deputy Director of the Air, Pesticides, and Toxics Management Division at EPA Region 4 (Southeastern U.S.), and Kosta is an environmental engineer in the Air Enforcement and Compliance Assurance Branch, Air and Radiation Division in Region 5 (Midwestern U.S.). Kosta is also the national expert for EPA in the area of Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) at chemical plants, petrochemical plants, and refineries and the leader of EPA Region 5’s refinery workgroup.
