The 2nd TEDx in Chiang Mai on January 21 went off without a hitch – check out the Facebook page for updates and videos from the great speaker lineup on creativity, entrepreneurship, and a few other ideas worth sharing. Around 100 audience members enjoyed speakers and videos which addressed topics ranging from science to the arts, including the future of mobile technology, workplace innovation, 3D printing, and stem cell generation. Dr. Arnan Sipitakiat, an MIT alumnus and Assistant Dean for Chiang Mai University’s Information Technology Development and Learning Innovation Center, discussed how digital technology can help schools build skills for the 21st century. Two American software companies contributed sponsorship to the event. The U.S. Consulate General and CG Foster, who was the only diplomatic representative to attend, were recognized as an in-kind sponsor of the event and a strong supporter of the Chiang Mai Creative City Committee.
January 23rd finally saw the 2nd gathering of the rebooted Bangkok Mobile Monday event, postponed due to November’s flooding. Speakers from Tarad.com, Huawei, and Nokia hit at e- and m-commerce, wider industry and infrastructure trends, and mobile “eco-systems”. More info and photos on that Facebook page.
